TRIED IT: Activated Charcoal Bread

Hi Foodies!

This is my first post for my TRIED IT! series. TRIED IT! is the section of my blog where I talk about food and drinks that I've tried. A lot of the food and drinks may be weird and wonderful, and things that I've tasted in my travels, but some may just be new food that many have not tried.

I'm not sure if any of you have tried this, but the other day, as I was  selecting my bread of choice at the supermarket, I spotted a black panini out of the corner of my eye. It peeked my curiosity, so I leaned over to read the label on the bread. It said "Activated Charcoal Panini. If you don't know what activated charcoal is and what it's used for, you can find out in this link.

I was surprised that anyone would put that in food because, as far as I knew, activated charcoal was used in skin care products. But, I tried it anyway because I'm so darn curious. I only bought one panini because I didn't want to waste my money on something that may not taste good.

I went home, warmed the bread up and put some butter on it. I only finished it because I didn't want to be wasteful. It's a definite no for me. It was way too salty and it had a strange texture to it. I don't know why it tasted like baking soda.

What's the score out of 10 Lee? A 2.
Sorry but it was definitely not my cup of tea. But there is no harm in trying it.

Take care of yourselves and eat well.
