Welcome Everyone!
I love food. I've always had a healthy appetite, and trying food from different cultures is something that I've been doing since I was a little girl. I would photocopy recipe pages from the public library (yes, I said photocopy; I am a child of the 90's) and ask my mother to try and make it with me. As I grew older, my travels around Asia, and meeting people from different countries, broadened my perspective on food. Don't get me wrong, I can be a fussy eater, but I am interested in the subject of food rather than the taste.
As I grow older, I realise how food is, a lot of times, less about sustainance and more about culture, politics, ritual, socioeconomic issues; it's deep. It can also be about fun, exploration, stories, memories. I want this blog to explore all of these topics, as well as my experiences with food. So, I have divided the blog into five sections:
Tasty Tip Tuesdays
Tried It!
In my opinion
Tops
Storytime
Tasty Tip Tuesdays are posts that give the reader tips and tricks regarding food. It could be a recipe for a specific season, a list of necessities to have for certain occassion or situations. Anything that has worked for me that I can share with you. There will be a tip from me every Tuesday.
Tried It! will highlight an experience that I've had with food. From weird and wonderful delicacies, to just darn good food from other cultures. I'll tell you whether or not it's worth trying. This segment will be published at least once a month.
In My Opinion is where the politics, culture, and the other things I mentioned about food come in. I will be talking about current events and experiences that I've had around food, culture, politics, the social aspects of food, health and well being and food.
Tops is where I lost my top five, ten, three, or whatever food or drinks according to a theme.
Last, but not least, is a Storytime. These are just random stories, memories and experiences that I have personally had with food.
And that's it! I hope you like this blog as much as I love writing posts for it.
Don't forget to take care of yourselves and eat well.
